50 Years Old and Need a Makeover Due To Career Change

Question: Hi, I have recently had a career change from working in a library to the corporate jungle. I know that impression matters. Thus in order for me to be successful in my new field i need a fashion makeover. Please help!

Hello Leila, congratulations on your career change. As you did not provide me with a photo, I can only advice you on general makeovers which will help in improving your style, and help you to transition your wardrobe from your previous job to your current job.

I am certain that along the way, you will also see that there are certain clothing in your wardrobe can be revamped and paired with something else for a more modern sophisticated look.

For a start, here are 3 essential Items that are must have to begin your transition. If you already have them, well and good. However, if you don’t, it is wise to spend a little bit, and invest in affordable ones.

1. A Versatile Jacket

This is a classic favorite, and the old adage of Classic means Boring doesn’t work in this sense. Get something that is more neutral colored so you can mix and match them easily with multiple clothes. A jacket is simple yet current so you don’t look like you’re dressed up to the nines, or too simple.

I would personally recommend these gorgeous and affordable collections from Appleseeds, as they are my favorite go to store for mature women’s fashion.

2. A comfortable pair of heels

When I say heels, it need not be 4 or 5 inch high. In order to look great and feel comfortable, you need to be comfortable too! Find shoes that have a little bit of elevation. You need to find one that you can wear long enough without hurting your feet!

3. Lipgloss

Yes, you did read it correctly. Swap your lipstick for a blush pink gloss or something natural colored! The same goes for your make up as well. If you used to not putting on any, put on something light – basic foundation, face powder, light pink blushers and gloss will easily do the trick! If you, on the hand have been putting on a lot of make up, try taking them down by a notch. Simplicity is beautiful.

I like the SHANY make up kit below as it is made up of multiple colors ranging from dark to light tones. Depending on the color code you are donning on, use the specific make up colors too! As for lip gloss, I’ve always thought Neutrogena has a great set of natural colored ones!

I hope these tips have helped you in some ways Leila. If you need more tips, I would appreciate you writing back with a picture. If you are not willing to share your picture online, write to me at admin@fashion-tips-and-trends-for-all.com and I would be more than happy to help!
